Fine Art Trends/Thoughts

18th January 2011
In today's fast-paced, high-tech, digital age we can easily be overwhelmed with the vast sea of imagery and information we are exposed to daily. The nature of our world guarantees an endless reservoir of stimuli, not the least of which are photographic images. Still, in this abyss of myriad imagery... personal taste and subjectivity remain important, discriminating factors. Each artist's eye and vision is unique in all the world... and either interests, attracts, bores or repels... or evokes indifference from any group or individual audience. When we experience artistic work we can relate to... the artist and the viewer become linked in a cosmic marriage of the senses. This is a beautiful thing and just one of many reasons why I, for one... love and enjoy creating art.

What are your feelings regarding the arts... and particularly, the photographic arts ? Nik January, 2011

Photo comment By Jimmy Abuan: Hello Nik - I like what you captured in a paragraph and so I'm responding. MFA grad Otis Art Institute of LA County ('76) as it was called then. I just finished a small painting after 25 years of hibernation. I feel like I can stay awake this time around and would like to make as many contacts as I have a lot of catching up to do. I've joined a local art group, but you're my first to world-wide communication. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks, Jimmy Abuan
